10 Years Southeast European Cooperative Initiative. Form Dayton to Brussels
The 27th of October 2006 represented a threshold of the existence of the Southeast European Cooperative Initiative. On this day, the 10th Anniversary of the foundation of SECI was officially celebrated.
The celebration represented an opportunity to glance back and evaluate what SECI has achieved in its decade long existence. Its achievements and the numerous activities undertaken by those who, with their enthusiasm and an alternative vision for the SEE region, contributed to its transformation were summarised in the book 10 years Southeast European Cooperative Initiative. From Dayton to Brussels, edited by Dr. Erhard Busek, SECI Coordinator.
The book gives an overview of the rationale behind the activities of the SECI initiative as well as of its role, place and importance within the SEE region and wider within Europe during the past 10 years. It is a compendium of relevant documents, agreements, analyses and essays by the founders of SECI and its collaborators throughout the years, giving a comprehensive and coherent overview of what SECI stands for. Thus, the book includes insightful contributions from: Dr. Erhard Busek (Nothing is possible without supporters), Ambassador Richard Schifter (Getting SECI Started), Yves Berthelot (Contribution of the ECE to SECI), Will Keenan (The Thermodynamics of SECI), Yanis Tsorbatzoglou (SECIPRO), Thomas C. Adams (The SECI Legacy) and others.
The contributions of people that directly participated in the policy and decision-making processes described in the SECI book, make it a valuable document relevant for political, economic and other actors from Southeast Europe and wider, since it provides a first hand analyses on the manner in which policy making within the region and wider develops.
